Sponsorship Consulting Agency SJX Partners Acquired By Chime Communications

Connecticut-based sponsorship consulting and sales agency SJX Partners has been acquired by Chime Communications, the London-based marketing services and agency holding company. Chime comprises more than 50 companies and 1,700 employees. SJX, which has 14 employees, will become part of Chime’s CSM Sport & Entertainment, a unit with around 500 employees. It includes European sports marketing agencies Fast Track and Essentially along with JMI, the Indianapolis motor sports marketing agency it acquired a year ago headed by ZAK BROWN. SJX Partners will retain its name and remain based in New Canaan, Conn. SJX was founded in '11 by HARLAN STONE and JEFF JONAS, who will both continue as principals, with a client roster featuring the USTA, Little League Baseball, Cirque du Soleil, and more recently, Lincoln Center. Stone said the deal has been in the works for three to four months and that he had talked with a handful of other agency groups. “The geographies and cultures really lined up well on this," he said. “This gives us some global resources when those are needed and increasingly, clients have been asking us for those.”
