NHL Shoots Down Maple Leafs' Zamboni With Giant Deodorant Stick Replica

The Maple Leafs last night did not use "their customized, rolling billboard zamboni" that features a giant replica of a Right Guard deodorant stick because the NHL "won't approve it," according to Darren Dreger of TSN.ca. This "pimped out, product pumping zamboni is causing NHL grief" (TWITTER.com, 10/8). In DC, Des Bieler notes the Leafs yesterday tweeted out photos of the Zamboni, and "once photos of that circulated around the Internet, it led to all sorts of jokes about how the team, which missed the playoffs last season." The NHL’s decision "may have something to do with conflicting corporate interests" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 10/8). The NHL's consumer healthcare sponsor is Procter & Gamble, and Right Guard is manufactured by Dial (Ian Thomas, Staff Writer).
