76ers Owner Josh Harris is "happy with the team's direction, saying that it's 'bottomed,' but now everything is going up," according to Bob Cooney of the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS. Harris said, "I feel we've set up the culture well. The basketball side of the house and the business side of the house (are) creating excellence from the bottom up." He added, "We've bottomed, and now together we build. It's not going down from here; it's going up." Meanwhile, Harris said the 76ers will begin work on their new practice facility "sometime around the end of the year." Harris: "It will be the largest in the NBA, it will be the best, state-of-the-art practice facility in the NBA" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 10/5). In Philadelphia, Keith Pompey noted the Sixers "would not benefit from another season of tanking" if a proposal that would balance out the NBA Draft Lottery is passed. The Sixers are "against the proposed change." Harris: "We are cognizant of being a good member of this league. But at the same time, balance that against what's the right thing for Philly and the Philadelphia 76ers. We are trying to draw that line as best as we can. I feel like we are in a good place. ... Philly is tired of being mediocre" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 10/5).
