NFL Mulls Partnership With Facebook Aimed At Increased Fan Interaction

Patriots President Jonathan Kraft said that the NFL has "had talks" with Facebook about "enhancing fan interaction" with the league, according to Matuszewski & Soshnick of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Kraft said, "We’ve had very good discussions with Facebook on a bunch of things, and I think you’ll see us do things with them and Instagram. There’s a bunch of things that will happen over the next three to five years.” Kraft said that the NFL "already has a partnership with Twitter that generates 'tens of millions of dollars for the league' and added that Google and YouTube have also been 'very interested' in NFL content." Matuszewski & Soshnick noted Facebook is "able to collect a wealth of data from its users that the NFL could incorporate to further fan interaction." Kraft said that it is "critical for the NFL to give fans content in the mediums they want and to package that information in the way they want to receive it." Kraft: "We’re going to be thoughtful and we’re definitely talking with those people. I think there will be more things on the horizon.” He said that video content consumption is up 85% "across all the league’s properties" over the past month and half (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 10/2).
