Taking Charge: NFL-Themed Visa Ads Feature QB Stand-Ins For Brees, Kaepernick, Luck

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald stars in a new commercial for Visa's "digital payment service" that began airing earlier this season, but he and commercial producers "enlisted the help" of Cardinals QB Logan Thomas, Chargers QB Ryan Lindley and an AFL player to depict three Pro Bowl QBs shown in the ad, according to Kent Somers of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Fitzgerald in the ad catches passes from Saints QB Drew Brees, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Colts QB Andrew Luck. Lindley, who was a member of the Cardinals when the ad was shot, "had a beard at the time, which helped him resemble Luck." Meanwhile, Thomas "has a similar build to Kaepernick." To "help the look, temporary tattoos were drawn on Thomas' arm." Fitzgerald "estimated he spent four hours making the commercial," but "more was required from Thomas and Lindley." The two QBs were paid for their involvement, but Thomas jokingly said it was "safe to say I wasn't even close" to Fitzgerald's compensation (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 10/3).
