Grand Canyon Univ. on Thursday said that it was "renaming its business college" after USA Basketball Chair JERRY COLANGELO. It will be known as the Colangelo College of Business. Colangelo replaces author KEN BLANCHARD, who had "served as the namesake of the business school for a decade." School officials said that Blanchard and GCU "mutually agreed in June to end the relationship." A spokesperson said that Colangelo "agreed to lend his name to the school at no extra cost to the university, although he is compensated as an adviser to the basketball program" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 9/26). In March '13, Colangelo was named Special Assistant to GCU President BRIAN MUELLER (THE DAILY).

NAMES: "SPOTLIGHT," a movie about the Boston Globe's '03 series on the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal, "started shooting this week, beginning with a scene filmed" at Fenway Park during Thursday's Rays-Red Sox game. The scene "involved a conversation between MARK RUFFALO, who's playing Globe reporter MICHAEL REZENDES," JOHN SLATTERY, "who's playing BEN BRADLEE JR., a former Globe editor" and the actor playing Globe reporter MATT CARROLL (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/26)....Cavaliers F LEBRON JAMES recently “teamed up with the soft drink brand Sprite to give kids in Akron a brand new park to play in.” Kids on Thursday were “just enjoying their brand new playground” at Patterson Park when James showed up (WKYC.com, 9/25)….Reds 1B JOEY VOTTO announced that his foundation, which was founded in December ’13, “is closing” (CINCINNATI.com, 9/25).
