Thunder's D-League Affiliate To Be Called Oklahoma City Blue, Team Releases Logo

The Thunder announced yesterday that their D-League affiliate "will be named the Oklahoma City Blue," according to Darnell Mayberry of the OKLAHOMAN. Thunder Senior VP/Sales & Marketing Brian Byrnes said, "Blue is one of our primary Thunder colors, but it has become more than just a color for us. It has come to represent the passion, loyalty and unity of our fans and our community in their support for our team." The Blue, formerly the Tulsa 66ers, will play their "first season in Oklahoma City this year after being unable to find a suitable arena to remain in Tulsa." The Blue will play their home games "inside the Cox Convention Center" (OKLAHOMAN, 9/25). The team's logo is "shaped the same as the Thunder's, with the 'OKC' in the middle replaced by 'Blue'." Uniforms "will be unveiled in the coming weeks" (OKLAHOMAN, 9/25).
