Red Sox Adding Suite Next To Green Monster, More Pavilion Seating

The Red Sox "plan to pack more fans into Fenway Park with the addition of a corner suite next to the Green Monster and 160 more pavilion and bleacher seats" as part of an estimated $4.2M in "proposed improvements" to the ballpark, according to Donna Goodison of the BOSTON HERALD. Filings with the Boston Landmarks Commission show that the new suite and 115 pavilion seats will "fill a gap between left field and the stairs and landing that access the Green Monster." But they will "not impact the existing Green Monster wall, 'which will remain untouched and visible.'" Fenway Park’s Coke Deck also "would be expanded under the team’s plans." The club also "proposed four new LED 'ribbon' boards around the front of the State Street pavilion seating level." Renderings "show them as Boston Globe news tickers." Goodison notes Red Sox Owner John Henry last year purchased the Globe for $70M (BOSTON HERALD, 9/23).
