Facility Notes

Bucks co-Owner Wes Edens said he is "optimistic and realistic" about finding a site for a new, multipurpose arena by the end of the year. Edens added that he and co-Owner Marc Lasry had "seen sites in the downtown area that were big enough for a new arena and ancillary development." In Milwaukee, Don Walker cites sources as saying that land located directly north of the BMO Harris Bradley Center "is in the running." Other possibilities include land "currently occupied by the headquarters of Journal Communications," which publishes the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (JSONLINE.com, 9/16).

LARGE AND IN CHARGE: MLSSOCCER.com's Franco Panizo noted Real Salt Lake will install "a premium new Daktronics video board" at Rio Tinto Stadium for the '15 season. The 4,200-square-foot HD videoboard will be the "biggest in the MLS." Located on the south end of the stadium, it is "more than triple the surface area of the screen on the north end" (MLSSOCCER.com, 9/18).

SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT: In Minneapolis, Eric Roper reported city leaders are "considering a modified development proposal" with Ryan Cos. for land across from the new Vikings stadium. The new plan "includes terms aimed at preventing construction delays." Ryan would pay the city $3M to "build apartments beside a new parking ramp" near the stadium, which is $2.6M "less than the company had originally promised." The ramp is being "financed largely through city debt" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 9/18).
