They Say It's Our Birthday! The Daily Turns 20!

On September 12, 1994, THE DAILY delivered its first issue to the sports industry. Our headlines on that Monday? MLB’s labor strike hit day 12; Fox Sports announced a deal with the NHL; The Hugh Culverhouse estate said the Bucs were not for sale and Andre Agassi’s win at the U.S. Open was seen as good business for tennis. And our Quote of the Day? Bob Costas’ comment on the MLB strike from “Meet The Press.” It’s been a fun trip! So as today marks the 20th Anniversary of The Daily, we take a look back at some of the people, stories and moments that have made the past two decades memorable. From our special SBD/SBJ anniversary issue, we bring back Jeffrey Pollack, Stephen Bilafer, David Abrutyn, Chuck Todd and Abe Madkour discussing how the publication got started, and why it worked. Meanwhile, we caught up with some notable news-makers in sports business to find out what they are up to now. And what about you, the reader? Many of you shared your thoughts on what this publication has meant to the industry. Plus, 20 years of high-impact stories, memorable quotes, memorable moments, and off-the-wall statements. Thanks for allowing The Daily to play a small role in your day-to-day life!
