ADWEEK's Michael McCarthy noted Lowe's on Thursday during Steelers-Ravens on CBS aired a "new NFL campaign, themed 'Make your football self happy.'" Four "humorous spots" from BBDO, N.Y., "show men and women being urged by their inner pigskin selves to get their home improvement projects done -- so they'll be free to watch pro football on Sunday." The "best of the bunch shows a woman berating herself to get her gardening done in time for kickoff" (ADWEEK.com, 9/11).

COMMUNITY CHEST: In Chicago, Luis Gomez reported "two of the biggest and most marketable superstars in the NHL and NBA" -- Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane and Cavaliers F LeBron James -- were "brought together Wednesday in Cleveland to film a commercial for McDonald’s Monopoly campaign" along with U.S. women's national soccer team F Alex Morgan and NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray. The commercial will "begin airing later this month" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 9/11).

TRILL SEEKER: ESPN.com's Darren Rovell reported the parents of Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill "filed for the trademark" to their son's nickname, "Kenny Trill," with the "intent to use it on athletic apparel." Hill has only started two games, but is "already a hot commodity." Sources said that the school's "licensing and compliance departments have sent out cease and desist letters to five online sites selling 'Kenny Trill' shirts" (ESPN.com, 9/11).

FLY PATTERN: In Houston, Joy Sewing noted Texans CB Kareem Jackson "unveiled the Kareem Jackson Fly Guy collection of Texans’ t-shirts and caps" at the Go Texan Store at NRG Stadium on Tuesday. Jackson said that he "worked on the collection with NFL licensees Majestic Threads and New Era during the off season." It will be "sold exclusively" at the Go Texan Store and online at shop.houstontexans.com. One shirt and hat will be "released each month during the season" (CHRON.com, 9/10).
