Jerry Jones' Attorney Says Extortion At Play In Lawsuit Over Alleged '09 Sexual Assault

An Oklahoma woman sued Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES on Monday, "accusing him of sexual assault" during a June '09 incident in a North Texas hotel, according to Scott Farwell of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. JANA WECKERLY, a former exotic dancer, said that Jones "fondled her genitals, forced her to touch or rub his penis, and made her watch as he received oral sex from another woman." Weckerly seeks over $1M "in punitive damages." But Jones' attorney, LEVI MCCATHERN II, in a statement wrote, “These allegations are completely false. The legal complaint is unsupported by facts or evidence of any kind. This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones. This is a money grab by a lawyer who is a solo practitioner just trying to make a name for himself." The lawsuit also accuses Jones of "conspiring to cover up the incident by coercing Weckerly to sign an agreement to keep quiet about what happened that night" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/10). ESPN DALLAS' Todd Archer noted Weckerly took pictures of two women in "suggestive photos with Jones at a Dallas hotel that were detailed last month by the sports blog TerezOwens.com." Jones last month said that the photos, which were from '09, were a "misrepresentation and that he had been aware of the photos for a long time" (ESPNDALLAS.com, 9/9).
