Overnight Rating For U.S. Open Men's Final Down Sharply In Final Year On CBS

CBS earned a 1.9 overnight rating for Marin Cilic’s straight-set win over Kei Nishikori in yesterday’s U.S. Open men’s final, which marked his first win at a tennis Grand Slam. That figure is down 32% from a 2.8 overnight for Rafael Nadal’s four-set win over Novak Djokovic in ’13. The men's final earned a 2.3 rating in '12 for Andy Murray's win over Djokovic and a 2.6 overnight in '11 for Djokovic's win over Nadal. This year's 1.9 figure is the lowest for the men’s final in at least the last five years, which have all aired on a Monday. The '14 tourney also marked CBS’ final time carrying the event.
