Blue Jackets' Season-Ticket Sales Reach Highest Level Since '09-10 Season

Less than two years after their season-ticket base "hit a franchise low, the Blue Jackets have rebounded at the box office," as the club yesterday went back "above 10,000 season-ticket equivalents sold for the first time" since '09-10, according to Aaron Portzline of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH. Blue Jackets Exec VP/Business Operations Larry Hoepfner said, "It’s a great accomplishment for this franchise. There’s still work to be done to get where we want to go, but the fans are excited and they want to be part of what’s happening." Portzline notes the right to buy tickets to the Jan. 25 NHL All-Star Game at Nationwide Arena "is limited to season-ticket holders." But Hoepfner "dismissed that as the sole reason that sales were brisk this summer, especially in the past two weeks." The Blue Jackets "made the playoffs for only the second time" in '13-14. Hoepfner: "The All-Star Game helps, of course. But I think it’s 90-10 people just wanting to be at our games, and that All-Star weekend is an added bonus" (DISPATCH.com, 9/9).
