Florida Making Efforts To Be More Fan Friendly In Wake Of 4-8 Season In '13

Univ. of Florida administrators prior to the school's 4-8 football season in '13 "were under the mistaken impression that no matter what, the Swamp would always be packed with passionate fans," but the athletics staff has since "done a complete image overhaul in hopes of winning back some disgruntled Gators," according to Mike Bianchi of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. UF AD Jeremy Foley said of the program's attitude before last season, "Sometimes you can be blinded by winning." He added, "There were some fans out there who thought we stopped caring." UF last week "had football players ... handing out tickets at the student-ticket window." Players "are no longer allowed to wear headphones and have been told to acknowledge fans during the traditional 'Gator Walk' into the stadium on game days." The school also has "established a fan advisory council and contracted consultants in order to get recommendations on how to improve the fan experience." It also "just hired an employee whose full-time job is to identify and solve fan issues." UF coach Will Muschamp "hand-delivered season tickets" to a couple who have been attending game since '68 (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 9/6).
