Vin Scully To Cut Back On Workload In '15, Will Skip Most Dodgers Road Games

Dodgers announcer Vin Scully "could reduce his workload next year by as much as 25%," according to Bill Shaikin of the L.A. TIMES. The 86-year-old Scully said that he plans to "skip road games, at least early in the season." He said, "I'm going to go to Anaheim for sure. But I'm going to try to cut back on nights on the road. I really want to spend more time at home." Scully noted that he anticipated calling some road games against the Giants, Padres and D-Backs "late in the season, assuming the Dodgers are in contention." He said that he was "thankful to the Dodgers ownership and management for letting him work a less demanding schedule." Scully: "They have been great. They said, 'You can do what you want.'" Next year marks the 66th season Scully will have called Dodgers games (LATIMES.com, 9/3). NBCSPORTS.com's Craig Calcaterra wrote Scully has "earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants," and Scully calling a little more than 50% of Dodgers games "is better than no Dodgers games with Scully" (NBCSPORTS.com, 9/3).
