IMG Re-Signs Longtime Tennis Agent Fernando Soler To Three More Years

IMG, a division of William Morris Endeavor, has re-signed Fernando Soler as head of the tennis division. IMG confirmed Soler will stay with the company, but declined to provide other details. A source said he signed for another three years. Soler assumed the top tennis spot in ‘06. He has been with the firm since ‘86. He played professionally from ’79-84. Since the William Morris deal closed earlier this year, IMG Tennis has been particularly aggressive signing players, recently adding Petra Kvitova and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. And the company is actively looking to sign Eugenie Bouchard, whose deal with Lagardere ends at the end of next month. Under Soler, IMG Tennis has maintained its status as a premiere tennis agency, with stars like Maria Sharapova, Li Na, and Novak Djokovic, not to mention events like the Miami Open. During Soler’s time running tennis, the agency lost star clients Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. They left with their IMG agents to form their own boutique agencies.
