USA TODAY's Chris Strauss noted the commercial is "the first of two spots" featuring Leinart, Shuler and Bosworth. Look for a former top overall NFL pick to "join the trio in the next commercial, which will debut nationwide in several weeks" (USATODAY.com, 8/4).

It also shows Newton "hand-picking his 7-on-7 team for a national competition." The "Huddle Up" series is "one of many brand-building initiatives from Newton." He also is "part of Gatorade's League of Captains, a theme of five NFL players on bottles distributed across the country." Newton is nicknamed "The Blender" in the Gatorade campaign (CHARLOTTEOBSERVER.com, 8/4).
