Facility Notes

In Jacksonville, David Bauerlein wrote Jaguars Owner Shahid Khan "might have the field to himself if he follows through on his oft-stated interest in becoming master developer of the city-owned Shipyards property on the downtown riverfront." The "only other group that has gone public" with interest in the property thus far is Killashee Investments. Killashee Investments Owner Mark Farrell said that his group has put its concept for the site "on the back burner while focusing on other real estate developments." Jaguars officials said that Khan "expects to have a plan ready for city consideration by early September" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 8/4).

SPRING FLING: In West Palm Beach, Joe Capozzi reports the Astros and Nationals "still want to share a new spring training stadium" in the city, but other municipalities in Florida and Arizona are "trying to court the two teams." Astros General Counsel Giles Kibbe said, "I know that different municipalities have been reaching out to both teams, but it’s still the preference of the Nationals and Astros to make this happen in West Palm Beach." Kibbe without naming specific cities said that several are "talking about either a single-team or two-team facility" (PALM BEACH POST, 8/5).
