Red Sox Team Store Scrambles To Stock Jerseys Of Newly Acquired Players

Officials at the Red Sox team store on Yawkey Way last Thursday “were busy contacting” Majestic Athletic reps to “order the jerseys and T-shirts of the players who would be joining the team” following the MLB trade deadline, according to Anthony Gulizia of the BOSTON GLOBE. Store Manager Theo Matt said that obtaining merchandise for LF Yoenis Cespedes “was the highest priority.” T-shirts arrived shortly after 5:00pm ET Friday, “in time for fans arriving to watch” the Yankees-Red Sox game. Store GM Scott Saklad, who coordinates new merchandise orders, said that the store “does not get any inside information about trades.” Items featuring players dealt by the Red Sox last week “still line the walls of the store.” The jerseys of DH David Ortiz and 2B Dustin Pedroia are “the highest sellers,” and former team P Jon Lester was “among the top pitcher jerseys sold.” Matt said that OF Brock Holt jerseys are “wildly popular,” and his jersey “sold quicker” than those of former team P John Lackey (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/1).
