Satisfied With Minihane's Suspension, Fox Sports Restores Ads On Entercom Stations

Fox Sports yesterday informed Entercom Communications that ads on the company's stations, including Boston-based WEEI-FM, "would be restored" after they were pulled last week following the Kirk Minihane controversy, according to Chad Finn of the BOSTON GLOBE. Fox Sports had "banned its personalities from appearing on WEEI" and pulled ads "in response to the station’s initial decision not to punish Minihane" for criticizing Erin Andrews. A source said that the restored advertising is "estimated at a little more" than $1M. Fox Sports Senior VP/Communications Lou D'Ermilio in a statement said, "It is our sincere hope both organizations can now move forward." Entercom Boston VP & Market Manager Phil Zachary: "On our end, we consider the matter 100 percent resolved." Zachary expects that Fox personalities such as Tom Verducci and Ken Rosenthal "will be allowed on WEEI programming going forward." Finn notes Minihane's weeklong suspension began Monday (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/31).
