NBA D-League President Dan Reed Leaving At End Of The Month To Join Facebook

NBA D-League President DAN REED is leaving the organization to join Facebook as Head of Global Sports Partnerships. Reed has been President of the league since '07. He joined the NBA in '04 and worked as Senior Dir of Team Marketing & Business Operations before his D-League stint. His last day at the D-League is July 31. No replacement has yet been named. D-League staff will report to NBA Deputy Commissioner MARK TATUM on an interim basis. Under Reed, the D-League has expanded to 18 teams with 17 teams now having single affiliation deals with D-League franchises. In '07, one NBA team had a single affiliation agreement with a D-League team. “Dan’s exceptional business acumen and tireless work ethic have lifted the NBA Development League to new heights,” Tatum said in a statement. “We thank Dan for his contributions to the NBA and look forward to working with him in his new role.” In his new job, Reed will report to Facebook Dir of Partnerships NICK GRUDIN, whose group recently partnered with Univision during the FIFA World Cup. “Facebook is a powerful platform for connecting people with the sports, athletes and events they care about. Dan is a welcome addition to the team building more meaningful connections, conversations, and experiences in this area,” Grudin said in a statement.
