Major Golf Organizations Making Plans For New Senior Ryder Cup To Debut In '15

The PGA of America and the European and PGA tours are "far down the road on the creation of a Senior Ryder Cup that would be played sometime next fall" in the U.S., according to GOLFWEEK's Forecaddie. Sources said that it is "clear that all parties are determined to get such an event off the ground as soon as possible." A sponsor is "already in the fold." NBC will "televise the senior version ... which would be slotted into a premier date" on the calendar: the FedExCup Playoffs off-week. Further discussions "were scheduled" to take place at this week's British Open, and a formal announcement "could be made" by the PGA Championship Aug. 7-10 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville (GOLFWEEK, 7/18 issue).
