In DC, Scott Allen noted  Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is re-imagined "as a comic book hero named 'TRIIIPLE Impact," on new Gatorade bottles, which also include a note about "joining the 'League of Captains' at Gatorade.com." There "doesn’t appear to be anything about the campaign on Gatorade’s Web site just yet, but Griffin isn’t the only NFL player with his own bottle." Other "unconfirmed members" include Broncos QB Peyton Manning ("The Sheriff"); Panthers QB Cam Newton ("The Blender"); and Texans DE J.J. Watt ("Megawatt") (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 7/10).

OWNING A PIECE OF OLSON: In Tucson, Jon Gold reports Upper Deck Brand Manager Brandon Miller recently "set out to acquire" some of retired college basketball coach Lute Olson's "iconic clothing for a just-released multi-sport product, 2014 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions, and for soon-to-come basketball card offerings." Miller "secured autograph and image rights for upcoming products such as 2014-15 SP Authentic and the company’s most premium line, Upper Deck Exquisite." He then "wanted to do one better" by incorporating Olson's tie and blazer into cards. He expects the garments to "yield roughly 600-1,100 pieces that can then be affixed to cards" (ARIZONA DAILY STAR, 7/11).
