Monfort Apologizes To Rockies Fan He Criticized Via E-mail After Online Complaint

Rockies Owner Dick Monfort "reached out Wednesday to a frustrated Rockies fan ... who was angered by an e-mail response he had received from Monfort" last week, according to Patrick Saunders of the DENVER POST. Monfort sent the fan, Mike Ferguson, an "apology e-mail and also gave Ferguson his direct number so that Ferguson could call the owner." Monfort said that he "wanted to apologize directly to Ferguson." Ferguson as of Thursday had "yet to either return Monfort's e-mail or call him back." Saunders notes Ferguson on July 4 took his family to the Rockies' 9-0 loss to the Dodgers. When he left Coors Field, Ferguson left a "disapproving comment in a feedback form provided to Rockies fans." Two days later, Ferguson received a reply from Monfort "in his e-mail inbox stating, 'If product and experience that bad don't come!'" (DENVER POST, 7/11).

DISMISSING DAN? In Colorado Springs, David Ramsey writes it is "past time" for the Rockies "to dismiss" Exec VP/Chief Baseball Officer & GM Dan O'Dowd. His departure "would deliver uplifting news to Rockies fans," but this "dismissal/liberation would deliver even better news" to O'Dowd himself. He still "can rescue his reputation." O'Dowd "requires a second chance," and Monfort "can give him this chance by firing him" (Colorado Springs GAZETTE, 7/11).
