Overnight Ratings: Final Round Of Women's U.S. Open Up 89% With Wie's First Major

NBC earned a 1.7 overnight for the final round of the women’s U.S. Open yesterday, which saw Michelle Wie take home her first major championship. That rating is up 89% from last year, when Inbee Park won, and marks the best overnight for the Sunday round of the event since Cristie Kerr's win in '07 drew a 1.9. That last American winner of the event -- Paula Creamer in ’10 -- drew a 1.1 overnight, but that event aired in mid-July up against the ’10 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from sports telecasts on broadcast TV over the weekend.
