Sabres' Pegula Reportedly Streamlining Operations In Preparation To Bid For Bills

Sabres Owner Terry Pegula is "preparing to bid" for the Bills, according to sources cited by Adam Benigni of Buffalo-based WGRZ-NBC. If Pegula does bid, it is unclear whether he will "do it alone or with a partner" (WGRZ.com, 6/12). In Buffalo, Tim Graham cites a source as saying Pegula's interest in acquiring the Bills "is real." Pegula's natural-gas company, East Resources, was involved Monday in the $1.75B "sale of drilling acreage in West Virginia and Ohio." The "added liquidity would help Pegula acquire the Bills." Meanwhile, sources said that Pegula's wife, Kim, has "taken a more active role in running their various companies, including Pegula Sports and Entertainment, and they recently reassigned Sabres employees to the fledgling sports-management group." PSE oversees the Sabres, HARBORcenter, First Niagara Center, the AHL Americans, NLL Bandits, Black River Entertainment and Black River Publishing, Five Star Athletes Management and Impact Sports Performance. Sources said that the Pegulas are "streamlining their operations" (BUFFALO NEWS, 6/13).
