Hawaii Bowl Looking For New Title Sponsor After Longtime Partner Sheraton Exits

The Hawaii Bowl is "looking for a new title sponsor of the Christmas Eve college football game after Sheraton Hotels & Resorts pulled out," according to Bill Cresenzo of PACIFIC BUSINESS NEWS. Hawaii Bowl Exec Dir David Matlin said that he could "not speculate as to why Sheraton made the decision, but said that it will remain connected to the game as its hotel sponsor and teams that play in the bowl will continue to stay at the hotel." He said that Sheraton had been the game's title sponsor for 11 years, the "sixth-longest stretch for a title sponsor out of 35 bowl games held each year" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/9). The HONOLULU STAR-ADVERTISER noted the game is owned and operated by ESPN Regional TV, which said that it is "talking to several candidates about title sponsorships" (STARADVERTISER.com, 5/9).
