Islanders Owner Charles Wang Getting More Suitors Interested In Buying Team

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said that he spoke with Islanders Owner Charles Wang as recently as yesterday morning, and added Wang has received a "number of expressions of interest" in the potential sale of the team, according to Katie Strang of ESPN N.Y. Bettman said Wang "hasn't decided whether or not he's going to take them to the next step." Bettman: "His position on that has not changed." However, the commissioner did "not seem to think a sale of the team would affect or potentially expedite the team's move to Brooklyn." He said, "I think their move to Brooklyn is regulated by their contractual commitment to Nassau County on Long Island." Philadelphia attorney and hedge fund manager Andrew Barroway, who has been pursuing the team, reportedly is interested in bringing AHL Syracuse Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon "into the fold, but that could be troublesome" since the Crunch are affiliated with the Lightning. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said, "There could potentially be some issues with that" (ESPNNY.com, 4/22).
