Kentucky men's basketball coach JOHN CALIPARI and his staff "will make a combined $329,166" in bonuses for reaching the Final Four. Calipari will "receive a $150,000 bonus, on top of the two $100,000 bonuses he got for making the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight." Assistant coach KENNETH PAYNE "gets a bonus equal to two months of his $350,000 per year salary, at $58,333." The other two assistants, JOHN ROBIC and ORLANDO ANTIGUA, "get the same deals, Robic getting an extra $50,000 and Antigua $45,833." UK AD MITCH BARNHART "receives a $25,000 bonus, in addition to the $25,000 he received" after the team made the NCAA Tournament (N.Y. POST, 4/1). Florida coach BILLY DONOVAN earned a $100,000 bonus for reaching the Final Four, while Wisconsin's BO RYAN earned $50,000 and UConn's KEVIN OLLIE "took home an extra $33,333" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 4/1).

CAVE DWELLER: Merrimack College Dir of New Media BEN BARKER "left his job" after he beat out "some 20,000 other baseball fanatics" to spend six months in the MLB Fan Cave in N.Y., where he will watch all 2,430 MLB games this season. Barker said, "When I told my boss, the athletic director at Merrimack, that I applied, he said to me, 'Just promise me one thing, if you get it, you'll take it.' That was really great." Barker's girlfriend, current Miss New Hampshire SAMANTHA RUSSO, was "very understanding," as she also "applied to be a Dweller" in the cave (BOSTON HERALD, 4/1).

NAMES: A dozen Seahawks and MLS Sounders players yesterday "paid a visit to a community center close to the fatal Washington mudslide." They were met in Darrington, Wash., by "a crowd of more than 300 children, parents and other area residents."
