Nike Selling Johnny Manziel Pro Day Apparel Following Workout Hyped By James, Carter

Nike "found a way to cash in" on Johnny Manziel before the NFL Draft, as he was "wearing the swoosh" Thursday during his pro day at Texas A&M, according to Kyle Newport of BLEACHER REPORT. Manziel is "making money by wearing the clothes, and now Nike is cashing in by allowing fans to dress like the quarterback" (BLEACHERREPORT.com, 3/27). PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio noted while Manziel's helmet and jersey combination "isn't available for purchase at the Nike website, a page has been devoted to Johnny Manziel Pro Day attire."  A "full range of black, white, and/or gray stuff is available," including T-shirts, shorts, shoes, socks and other items (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 3/27). ESPN's Jason Whitlock noted LRMR "orchestrated" the buzz around Manziel's pro day, and it turned into a "marketing tour de force." Whitlock: "This is the anti-Decision. They put this kid on a great platform and he performed and created a lot of buzz." He added while Jay Z has made headlines for entering the agent business in the NFL, he has done "nothing that compares" to what LRMR "pulled off" ("PTI," ESPN, 3/27).
