Seahawks Raise Season-Ticket Costs, Introduce Variable Pricing After Super Bowl Win

The Seahawks on Friday announced that they will "increase season-ticket prices" by just less than 12% for the '14 season, according to Jayson Jenks of the SEATTLE TIMES. The team said that the average price "will increase from $99 to $111 per game" for 70% of season tickets. The Seahawks "sold 62,000 season tickets last season, with a record renewal rate" of 98%. Approximately 5,000 individual game tickets "will be sold," and the team also "will introduce variable pricing for the first time" in '14. The team added that it has "12,000 paid customers on a waiting list for season tickets and 30,000 unpaid people on a notification list" (SEATTLE TIMES, 3/15).

SINGULAR FOCUS: In St. Louis, Jim Thomas reports the Rams are "considering variable pricing for single-game tickets." Rams Exec VP/Football Operations & COO Kevin Demoff said, "As our schedule gets closer, as the dates get released, we’ll evaluate what our single-game pricing will be when we put our single-game tickets on sale." At least four teams "already have committed" to variable pricing in '14, including the Bills, Lions, Patriots and Seahawks. The times and dates of Rams games "won’t be known until April when the NFL releases its schedule," and the team then will have a better idea of which will be higher-demand games. A primetime game "would be more desirable," whereas a home game "close to Christmas probably would not." Season-ticket holders "have already received their invoices for renewal," and the Rams have "decided to hold the line on prices."  Demoff: "A few seats went down in select areas of the building. But all seats remain flat or went down. Not one seat increased" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/17).
