NBC earned a 3.2 overnight rating for the final round of the PGA Tour Honda Classic yesterday, which saw Russell Henley win a four-man playoff with Rory McIlroy, Ryan Palmer and Russell Knox. That figure is tied with ’12 as the best for the event's final round since '02. The event in ’12 saw McIlroy withstand a Sunday charge from Tiger Woods for a two-stroke victory. Last year’s final round drew a 2.3 overnight for Michael Thompson’s victory.
NOTES: Fox earned a 4.8 overnight for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Phoenix Int’l Raceway yesterday afternoon, down from a 5.3 overnight last year and down from a 5.0 overnight in ’12. The Profit on CNBC 500 yesterday saw Dale Earnhardt Jr. finish second….NBC on Saturday night earned a 2.1 overnight for the Penguins-Blackhawks NHL Coors Light Stadium Series game from Soldier Field, marking the net’s best non-Winter Classic regular-season overnight on record. The game also posted a 14.9 local rating in Chicago, marking NBC’s best regular-season NHL rating ever in the market, ahead of even the ’09 Winter Classic held at Wrigley Field (11.8 rating).
