Michael Yormark Leaving NHL Panthers For Major Role At Roc Nation Sports

Roc Nation Sports today is expected to name MICHAEL YORMARK to a "major executive position," according to an industry source. Yormark will lead the business side of the agency owned by JAY Z, but will not be involved in the recruitment of players. His start date is yet to be determined. Yormark, the twin brother of Nets and Barclays Center CEO BRETT YORMARK, has been with the NHL Panthers for 11 years, most recently as Sunrise Sports & Entertainment President & CEO. He oversaw the team’s recent ownership transition to VINNIE VIOLA (Rick Ellington, Managing Editor). In Ft. Lauderdale, Harvey Fialkov reports with Yormark leaving the franchise, Panthers Exec VP & Senior Advisor to the Owner RORY BABICH's role has "expanded on the hockey side." He will "work closely" with Panthers Exec VP & GM of Hockey Opertions DALE TALLON, a "longtime close friend." Babich is an "avid, knowledgable hockey fan," and he was brought in by Viola. A source said that Yormark "will no longer be a 1 percent owner and will have no role with the Panthers or Sunrise Sports & Entertainment" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 3/3). Miami-based WPLG-ABC's Will Manso wrote on Twitter, "Man, leaving the Panthers to work for Jay Z sure sounds like a win for Michael Yormark. Good for him."
