MLB Rangers Sign Naming-Rights Deal With Texas-Based Globe Life Insurance

The MLB Rangers this afternoon announced a new 10-year naming-rights deal with Oklahoma City-based Globe Life Insurance, which will go into effect for the '14 season, according to Susan Schrock of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. The former Rangers Ballpark in Arlington will now be known as Globe Life Park in Arlington. Financial terms of the deal were not available. Ameriquest in '04 signed a $75M deal with the Rangers, but the company "pulled out of the deal in 2007" (STAR-TELEGRAM.com, 2/5). The DALLAS MORNING NEWS reported the length of the deal coincides with the "length of the remaining years on the stadium's lease." The Rangers "specifically wanted to keep Arlington in the name, but the city gets nothing in the deal other than that." Globe Life will "also sponsor work of the Texas Rangers Foundation" (DALLASNEWS.com, 2/5).
