Time Inc. today moved Sports Group President MARK FORD to Exec VP/Ad Sales as part of an ongoing reorganization of the company. TODD LARSEN, another Time Inc. Exec VP who had oversight of several other titles include Time, Fortune and Entertainment Weekly, will expand his duties to include oversight of SI. The reorganization and spinoff of Time Inc. from parent Time Warner will include an undisclosed number of job cuts. The moves also eliminate three separate magazine groups within the company and consolidates all the U.S. brands into a single group led by Larsen and EVELYN WEBSTER (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).

RAISING ARIZONA: The D-Backs extended the contract of GM KEVIN TOWERS. Terms were not disclosed. Towers has been with the club since September ’10 (MLB.com, 2/3). In extending Towers, along with manager KIRK GIBSON, MLB.com's Richard Justice wrote the D-Backs “did what good organizations almost always do.” The club “cast a vote for continuity.” Towers is “approaching 20 years on the job” as a GM in MLB. He is “on the shortlist of the most respected in the game” (MLB.com, 2/3).

EXECS: The Sports Authority named h.h. gregg CFO JEREMY AGUILAR to the same position (Sports Authority)....The MLB Giants promoted Coordinator of Instruction SHANE TURNER to Dir of Player Development (INSIDEBAYAREA.com, 2/3)….Univ. of Tennessee Dir of Football Operations BRAD PENDERGRASS “has resigned from his position” (TENNESSEAN.com, 2/3)….Learfield Sports named independent baseball team Lincoln Saltdogs VP & GM TIM UTRUP GM for N.C. State’s Wolfpack Sports Properties, effective Feb. 10. Utrup replaces BRIAN ASBILL, who has named Associate GM in order to focus on expanded sales initiatives (Learfield Sports).
