Super Bowl Looks For Audience Increase After Last Year Was First Decline Since '05

Fox’ telecast of Super Bowl XLVIII will look for an increase on last year’s Ravens-49ers matchup on CBS, which was the first time since ’05 that the Super Bowl saw a year-over-year audience decline. Despite the decline last year, the past four Super Bowls have been the four most-viewed TV programs in U.S. history. The Giants-Patriots matchup on NBC in ’12 remains the most-viewed Super Bowl with 111.3 million viewers. The 49ers-Bengals matchup on CBS in ’82 remains the highest-rated Super Bowl with a 49.1 rating (85.2 million viewers) (THE DAILY).
