Time Inc. named Fortune VP/Advertising Sales BRENDAN RIPP Publisher of SI and SI.com. Ripp will report to Time Sports Group President MARK FORD. Ripp replaces FRANK WALL, who left to become Turner Sports Senior VP/National Sales (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer). In N.Y., Keith Kelly notes Ripp is the son of Time Inc. CEO JOE RIPP, a "fact that was not mentioned in the release." Turner and Time Inc. currently are "all sister companies within the Time Warner empire -- at least until later this year when Time Inc. gets spun off as its own publishing company" (N.Y. POST, 1/17).

ALL-AMERICAN: American Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner of Football & Marketing NICK CARPARELLI JR. "is leaving for a job with Under Armour" after serving as the "head of football for the Big East and American Athletic Conference for nearly 12 years." He will be UA's Senior Dir of College Sports, "serving as the lead liaison to the more than a dozen athletic departments whose teams wear Under Armour." He also will "oversee corporate sponsorship opportunities" in the collegiate space. Carparelli "spearheaded the creation of the Pinstripe Bowl and Miami Beach Bowl" (SI.com, 1/16).

EXECS: The Orioles named Capitals Senior Dir of Corporate Sponsorship Sales MARCO GENTILE VP/Corporate Partnerships (Orioles)....The MLBPA named former MLBer BOB TEWKSBURY to the newly created position of Dir of Player Development (MLBPA)....Rugby Canada named MARK LEMMON to the newly created position of CMO for its Senior Leadership Team (Rugby Canada)....Washington Univ. in St. Louis AD JOHN SCHAEL will retire June 30 after 36 years at the school (WU)....Fresno Pacific Univ. promoted Senior Associate AD LESLIE SCHUEMANN to AD, replacing DENNIS JANZEN (FRESNO BEE, 1/13)....MiLB named COREY BERNSTINE Marketing Research Coordinator, JESSICA MERRICK Marketing Coordinator, and JESS VERA Coordinator of Trademarks & Intellectual Property. MiLB also promoted ROBERT FOUNTAIN to Associate Counsel and ANDY SHULTZ to Baseball & Business Operations Manager (MiLB).
