Vikings Concede In Fight Against Wells Fargo Signage, Agree To Deal Limiting Size

The Vikings have "withdrawn their opposition to rooftop signage that Wells Fargo & Co. hopes to place near the team's new stadium in downtown Minneapolis," according to Nick Woltman of the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS. The signs will "be fixed atop a pair of 17-story office towers." Vikings VP/Public Affairs & Stadium Development Lester Bagley cited "the limited size of the signs, as well as a desire to see the massive Ryan Cos. redevelopment realized" as reasons for the team's "change of heart." Wells Fargo had "previously indicated that it might back out of the project if it were not allowed to place its signage." Bagley said, "We wanted to move forward. We took the high road and did what we needed to do to get this done. We're going to be neighbors" (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 12/7). Bagley said that the deal "limits the size of each 'skyview graphic' to 56 square feet and contains some 'comfort language' to ensure that signage at the Ryan project will not conflict with competing properties." In Minneapolis, John Vomhof Jr. noted the City Council "still needs to approve" the signage (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/7).
