Return Flight: Bryant, Messi Back Again For Turkish Airlines' New Ad Campaign

A Turkish Airlines ad campaign featuring Lakers G Kobe Bryant and La Liga club FC Barcelona F Lionel Messi is "getting a sequel," according to Stuart Elliott of the N.Y. TIMES. The ads "will signal the unveiling of a new campaign for the airline from its new agency, Crispin Porter & Bogusky." The new campaign "carries the theme 'Widen your world,' and to get that point across," the spot presents Bryant and Messi "visiting locations around the world to which Turkish Airlines flies," including China, Russia, the Maldives, South Africa, Thailand, the U.S. and the airline’s home of Istanbul at the end. Both ads depict the two athletes "trying to one-up each other." In one new commercial, the two "trade 'selfies' on mobile devices from sites like Red Square, the Great Wall of China, the South African jungle and a Hollywood red carpet" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/4).
