Rant Sports Parent Company Closes On $3M Round of Venture Capital

Illinois-based Rant Media Network, parent company of open source sports journalism site Rant Sports, has closed on a $3M round of venture capital funding, led by Hudson Bay Capital and interClick co-Founders Barry Honig and Michael Brauser. The investor group has committed to supplying $5M in additional funding at a higher valuation in the coming months. The three-year-old Rant Sports, somewhat analogous to Bleacher Report with its fan-driven writer platform, has quickly grown to one of the largest independent sites in digital sports media, making several appearances this year among the leaders in monthly comScore reach rankings. Rant Media Network also operates the newly formed Rant Lifestyle and Rant Chic sites. “Being able to give our growing team more resources to operate, while bringing in the expertise of Hudson Bay and Barry Honig is such a positive for the company as we move forward,” said Rant Sports co-Founder & CEO Brett Rosin.
