Sources: Major League Lacrosse Moving Hamilton Nationals To South Florida For '14

Major League Lacrosse "could be heading to South Florida" for the '14 season and it "would be the Hamilton Nationals moving," according to sources cited by John Jiloty of INSIDE LACROSSE. The sources added that a team "likely would return to Hamilton in 2015 -- as expansion -- while Florida would keep the players they inherit from the Nationals" in '14. N.Y. Lizards Chair Andy Murstein in June said that the team's ownership group "had interest in two markets: Philadelphia and South Florida." A source said that Hamilton's move to Boca Raton for '14, coupled with plans to return to Hamilton with an expansion team in '15, "connects with a new stadium being built" for the CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The 24,000-seat stadium in Hamilton is "slated to be done in the summer of 2014." The Nationals and Rochester Rattlers last year played a regular-season game at Florida Atlantic Univ., a year after the school hosted the MLL All-Star Game and drew 7,854 fans to FAU Stadium (INSIDELACROSSE.com, 11/5).
