Nike promoted VP & GM of Young Athletes CRAIG CHEEK to VP/Men’s Training, overseeing the company’s training, baseball and football businesses, including Nike’s relationship with the NFL. The company also announced VP/Sports Apparel REENIE BENZIGER will assume the role of VP/Young Athletes. Both Cheek and Benziger will report to VP & GM of Global Categories JAYME MARTIN (Nike).

NEW-LOOK DEPARTMENT: The Chiefs have “restructured their player engagement department less than a year after one of their players was involved in a murder-suicide near Arrowhead Stadium.” Chiefs VP/Administration KIRSTEN KRUG “will oversee the department” and work alongside Player Development Assistant B.J. STABLER, “who has experience in crisis management” (AP, 7/22).

EXECS: Time Warner named former CFO JOE RIPP CEO for Time Inc., the magazine unit “that will be spun off as a separate company later this year” and includes SI. Ripp will begin in September (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 7/22)….The WTA named Singapore-based Phar Partnerships Head of Sponsorships/Asia RORY RENWICK Senior Dir of Business Development for EMEA. Renwick will be based out of the WTA’s London office and begin Aug. 8 (WTA)….Nutrition firm CytoSport named former Pepsi Bottling Group President of North America ROB KING CEO (CytoSport)….Premier Partnerships promoted Dir of Corporate Partnerships UZMA RAWN to Senior Dir of Corporate Partnerships (THE DAILY)….Alpine Canada named ROGER JACKSON interim President, replacing MAX GARTNER, who “resigned in June.” Jackson was the founding CEO of the Own the Podium program (CP, 7/22).
