Execs Feel Possibility Of Breakaway From NCAA Either Years Off Or Not Happening

A majority of sports execs feel that the possibility of a group of universities leaving the NCAA to form a competitive entity is either more than five years away or never going to happen, according to a Turnkey Sports Poll conducted in May. Forty percent of execs polled said such a concept was more than five years away, while 20% said never. Another 23% of execs felt it could happen in the next 4-5 years. Meanwhile, execs were also asked to name the biggest challenge facing today’s college ADs. Twenty-three percent said building winning programs in revenue-generating sports, while 20% said it was the facilities “arms race” (Turnkey).
