The top food and beverage brands -- Pepsi, Red Bull and Coca-Cola -- are among the largest of all brands on YouTube, with combined monthly views of more than 50 million, according to a study conducted during the week of April 8 by video content analytics platform OpenSlate. Nike Soccer was the No. 4 brand overall and the top-ranked apparel brand, ahead of DC Shoes and Victoria’s Secret. The tech category outperformed other industries in terms of brand participation on YouTube, with nearly 30% more channels than the next closest category (entertainment category excluded from study). The top brands on YouTube average 203,000 Twitter followers and 2.6 million Facebook likes, but register only 35,000 YouTube subscribers. Food and beverage, retail and apparel brands are the most likely to post re-purposed TV commercials. On average, 7.4% of videos from the top 500 brands are re-purposed TV commercials (OpenSlate).
