FBS Avg. Attendance Lowest Since '04; Michigan Sets All-Time Home Record

FBS schools averaged 45,440 fans for home games during the ’12 regular season, relatively flat compared to the ’11 season, but still the lowest figure since ’04, according to official data from the NCAA. SEC schools averaged 75,538 to lead all conferences. The Big Ten ranked second at 70,040, followed by the Big 12 (59,004). In total attendance, the SEC saw a record high, fueled by the additions of Missouri and Texas A&M. The Pac-12 and Sun Belt also saw record total attendance for their respective conferences. Michigan led all schools for the 15th straight season with 112,252 fans per game, marking an all-time record for an individual school. The previous mark was set in ’11 by UM (112,179). Among FCS schools, Appalachian State led in attendance for the fifth time in six years with 25,236 fans per game. The SWAC also earned its 34th FCS attendance title in 35 years (THE DAILY).
