Sources: FC Dallas CEO Doug Quinn Charged With Assault After Incident With Wife

MLS FC Dallas President & CEO DOUG QUINN on Saturday was arrested for "allegedly beating and suffocating" his wife, ELIZABETH, in a N.Y. hotel room, according to law enforcement sources cited by Jamie Schram of the N.Y. POST. Sources said that Quinn “choked her with both hands, and held a pillow over her face until she passed out.” He was arrested at 4:00pm ET on "charges of assault and strangulation, and his wife was treated by paramedics at the scene for injuries to her face, arm, legs and eye, which was swollen shut.” Doug Quinn was “released on $20,000 bail following his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.” He is “due back in court tomorrow.” Elizabeth Quinn said, "It was his 50th birthday party Friday night. We had a lovely night, and unfortunately things went wrong." She added that "they plan to stay together" (N.Y. POST, 11/14). NBCSPORTS.com's Steve Davis writes, "If the allegations prove true, it’s hard to see that top-level management changes aren’t ahead for FC Dallas, which is owned by Hunt Sports Group." HSG is an organization "that traces its roots to patriarch and domestic soccer pioneer LAMAR HUNT, a man of unimpeachable character." It is "hard to see HSG retaining Quinn, who was once a rising star in MLS circles, a man more or less hand-picked by league leaders to help FC Dallas sort out its front office, one that had lost its way in terms of sponsorship and customer service" (NBCSPORTS.com, 11/14). SB NATION's Drew Epperley writes, "Boy, this is a tough story to swallow here. We've stated on here before that this would be an off season of changes with FC Dallas but man this will be something entirely else" (SBNATION.com, 11/14).
