WMG Signs Defending America's Cup Champion Skipper Jimmy Spithill
Wasserman Media Group has signed Australian yachtsman Jimmy Spithill. The 33 year old became the youngest skipper to win the America's Cup when he led the '10 BMW Oracle Racing team. He is currently the skipper on one of Oracle's two America's Cup World Series boats and will be the skipper of the team's yacht when it defends the America's Cup next fall in S.F. Spithill will be represented by Travis Clarke, Wasserman Dir of Action Sports & Lifestyle. Clarke said, "America's Cup is looking to increase its brand appeal, and Jimmy, being the youngest sailor, has a lot of opportunities that are being underutilized. We believe there's opportunity in this space, and we're impressed with the investment America's Cup is making to market this sport. There's a lot of potential." Spithill currently has deals with Oracle, Puma and Tag Hauer.
