CBS Sports named BESS BARNES VP/College Sports Programming, in addition to announcing expanded programming roles for Exec VP/Programming ROB CORREA and Senior VP/Programming DAN WEINBERG. Barnes comes to CBS after serving as ESPN Programming & Acquisitions Dir. Reporting to Weinberg, she will be responsible for day-to-day management of college sports programming for CBS Sports' broadcast and cable properties, including scheduling and acquisitions (CBS Sports).
EXECS: Retiring UConn men’s basketball coach JIM CALHOUN “will become a special assistant” to AD WARDE MANUEL, “providing services to the university in support of men’s basketball, the Division of Athletics, the UConn Health Center, and the university at large.” The agreement runs through March 21. Upon Calhoun’s full retirement, he “will become Head Coach Emeritus” (HARTFORD COURANT, 9/14)….Troy Univ. named Ole Miss Senior Exec Associate AD JOHN HARTWELL AD (MOBILE PRESS-REGISTER, 9/13)….The Univ. of Montana promoted Associate AD/Development for the UM Foundation KENT HASLAM to AD (Montana)….Montana State Univ. named Associate AD KRISTA MONTAGUE interim AD (MSU)….Northwest Nazarene Univ. named BILL RAPP AD. Rapp previously worked for Sharks Sports & Entertainment as ATP World Tour SAP Open Tournament Dir (IDAHOBUSINESSREVIEW.com, 9/12)….Daktronics promoted Corporate Controller SHEILA ANDERSON to CFO & Treasurer, replacing BILL RETTERATH, who recently departed the company (Daktronics)….Excel Sports Management hired Mets Dir of Sales DAVID OXFELD as Senior Dir of Client Sales (THE DAILY).
