Shark Attack: Greg Norman Management Team Taking Over Valero Texas Open

The PGA Tour Valero Texas Open yesterday announced that Greg Norman Production Co., founded by the HOF golfer, “will assume management of the event effective immediately, replacing Golf San Antonio,” according to Richard Oliver of the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS. Valero Energy, which earlier this year extended its title sponsorship agreement through '18, “spearheaded the move in concert with the GSA board.” The agreement comes “three months after” former GSA President & CEO Tony Piazzi “abruptly resigned.” The tournament has been “held the past three years on the Norman-designed AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio,” and the decision “extends the famous player's association with the Texas Open.” Norman Production named Larson Segerdahl as Valero Texas Open Tournament Dir. He has “served in the same role” with the PGA Tour Mayakoba Golf Classic. In addition to Mayakoba and the Texas Open, Norman's management team “also oversees the Franklin Templeton Shootout in Naples, Fla., an annual PGA Tour offseason attraction” (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 9/12).
